Dayfade

The day passed by so quietly
Now it walks out on its toes
Without anybody noticing
Or wondering where it goes
It sneaks around the corner
Draws away from sight
Doesn’t linger to welcome in
The darkening face of night
The evening sun is flirting with the rooftops
But they don’t give a sign of life
Standing tall, unwilling as ever
To play and dance with the fading light
Go down, fair lady
Caress the grass one last time as you leave
Cast a last glance before the night comes to steal your light away
Like an ordinary thief
Now it’s starting to get dark
And dark is for night
and I know night is for sleeping
But I’m still on this train
Rolling away from the light
As the colours of the sky are deepening
The evening sun is flirting with the rooftops
But they don’t give a sign of life
Standing tall, unwilling as ever
To play and dance with the fading light
Go down, fair lady
Caress the grass one last time as you leave
Cast a last glance before the night comes to steal your light away
Like an ordinary thief
Let us meet where the ocean meets the sky
Where they merge into perfect unity
Drift away into the realm between low and high
Where their colours melt into harmony
I would ask the sun to stall and illuminate your lovely face
And the colours of the sky to fly and capture our common gaze
But as the seasons roll on by and the sun runs out its course
The coming of the night is inevitable it will come to call upon us all (so)
Go down, fair lady
Caress the grass one last time as you leave
Cast a last glance before the night comes to steal your light away
Like an ordinary thief
Go down, fair lady
Caress the grass one last time as you leave
Cast a last glance before the night comes to steal your light away
Like an ordinary thief
Like an ordinary thief
Like an ordinary thief…

The Drifter
05:30
|
|||
I came from distant but not afar
Spread my bed among this population
Here I fell victim to endless strolling
Observed by none but one with all
I've settled among the Endless Others
Other I have become, myself
Fragrances of day
Lights of lengthening nights
The trains here sing and I
try to catch their tones just to feel alive
I wrap the city all around me
to hide from winter's chill
Warm myself at life that runs
through illuminated streets
Warmer and warmer I melt, then evaporate
join the clouds in their skyparade
Slowly drift away
Drift away to sea
The waves here sing and I
dive into their tones just to be set free
Come back dear one and sing for us
the melodies of water and wind
Tell of how the trees applauded every time
the light danced to the rhythm of the seasons
Come back and have the cloak
that you wore with so much pride
Come back, lay down your modesty
be one of us, don't hide
Empty all your pockets, empty them right here
Our tables are bare and waiting
Display here your stories of hope and love and fear
ignite them with a song
ignite them with a song
We'll wrap your art around us
to hide from winter's chill
Warm ourselves at words of longing
that dance along from ear to ear
Warmer and warmer, we melt, then evaporate
Join the clouds in their skyparade
Rising up as one
Drift away to sea
The waves here sing, telling
of whatever’s been and of what will be

The Annual Show
02:25
|
|||
One of our singers here
has become rather shy
Summing up all her fears
she timidly passes by
Next on comes and sheds his tears
over all the things that die
Falling down hard he clears
broken soil as we sigh
Then the next voice we hear
sings her melody, she sings it way up high
Tells us to learn to wait patiently, quietly
Closes our hands and our eyes with her comforting song
Her song…
Winning the prize all covered with white
she covers us where we lie
One more hand and a cheer
for the last one in line
Springing up right in here
brightens this heart of mine
Takes up the task to revive what was lost
Pays for the show, pays in colours for every cost made
For the sake of life

Hallelujah
05:54
|
|||
I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
There was a time when you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night
It’s not somebody who has seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

White

Remember my prayers of autumn
Remember my prayers in the night
The trees are bare
I'll lay my head to rest
On the pillow of white
A sigh on the road would teach me
A spark in the distance would say
It's done, my love
For now the time has come to yield
To the light of day
I close this door
And say no more
For future's sake I'll stand
On pages blank where ink once drew
These words from
a trembling hand
Remember my prayers of autumn
Remember my prayers in the night
The trees are bare
I'll lay my head to rest
On the pillow of white
I close this door
And say no more
For future's sake I'll stand
On pages blank where ink once drew
These words from
a trembling hand
Remember my prayers of autumn
Remember my prayers in the night
The trees are bare
I'll lay my head to rest
On the pillow of white
